Thunderbird
Enormous bird with a wingspan beyond any known species
DESCRIPTION
An enormous bird, far larger than any known living species, with reported wingspans of 10 to 20 feet. Described in the coloring and build of a condor or eagle but at a scale that dwarfs both, sometimes reported carrying off livestock or large prey.
BEHAVIOR
Seen soaring at high altitude or perched on cliffs and dead trees, typically in remote, open terrain. Witnesses often first notice the shadow it casts before spotting the bird itself.
REPORTED HABITAT & LOCATIONS
Open plains, canyons, and mountainous terrain with thermal updrafts suited to a large soaring bird. Reports cluster in the American Southwest and parts of Alaska.
