Lake monster

DESCRIPTION

A large, long-bodied creature reported in lakes and other large bodies of freshwater, often described with a serpentine neck, humped back, and dark, wet skin breaking the surface. Every major lake seems to have its own local version and its own local name.

BEHAVIOR

Typically seen from shore or from a boat as a series of humps or a long neck breaking the surface before submerging. Sightings are brief, usually seconds long, and rarely repeated by the same witness.

Large, deep freshwater lakes, particularly those with cold water and limited visibility below the surface, and a local history of sightings going back generations.
