Chupacabra

"Goat sucker," blamed for livestock deaths

DESCRIPTION

A creature originally reported in Puerto Rico and now across the Americas, associated with livestock found drained of blood with puncture wounds. Descriptions vary widely, from a spiny, reptilian biped to a coyote-like canine with patchy hair and prominent fangs.

BEHAVIOR

Nocturnal and predatory, typically linked to livestock attacks on farms rather than direct encounters with people. Witnesses who do report seeing the animal describe fast, low movement and an unusual gait.

REPORTED HABITAT & LOCATIONS

Farmland and ranch land, particularly in the southwestern US, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and other parts of Latin America. Reports tend to follow livestock attack incidents.
