Bigfoot / Sasquatch
North America's most reported cryptid
DESCRIPTION
A large, bipedal, ape-like creature said to roam the forests of North America, most often described in the Pacific Northwest but reported in wooded and mountainous terrain across the continent. Witnesses typically describe a figure 7 to 9 feet tall, covered in dark brown or reddish hair, with a strong smell and a heavy, loping stride.
BEHAVIOR
Reports describe Bigfoot as shy and avoidant of humans, usually seen at a distance at dusk or dawn before retreating into tree cover. Associated signs include wood knocking, guttural vocalizations, large humanoid footprints, and broken or twisted tree branches at head height.
REPORTED HABITAT & LOCATIONS
Dense forest, especially old growth and areas near rivers or streams with limited human traffic. Most reports cluster in the Pacific Northwest, Appalachia, and the upper Midwest, though sightings have been logged in nearly every US state.
